The five United Nations co-lead agencies and the government of Uganda launched Education Plus Initiative on June 02, 2022. The Minister of Education and Sports and First Lady of Uganda Janet K. Museveni, together with the United Nations and other key stakeholders launched the initiative.

· Uganda has the second youngest population in the world, with 53% below 18 years.
· There is still less than 50% access to and completion of secondary education by girls of age 13-18.
· Only 19% of sexually active adolescents are using any modern contraception method.
· Fewer females at 37% than males at 63% enroll for skills development in business, technical, vocational education, and training institutions.
· 79% of new HIV infections among 15-24 year olds were females in 2020.
· One in four adolescent girls aged 15-19 years in Uganda have begun childbearing.
